Voluntary Carbon Program

Customers in Australia can purchase carbon credits and help compensate for a portion of flight emissions when travelling on Qantas operated international, domestic and regional flights in all cabins.

The price is calculated automatically via your Technology Partner connected to the Qantas Distribution Platform and includes the estimated cost for the customer’s confirmed itinerary. The value of the carbon credit will be issued on a standalone EMD, consumed at issuance.  

The Voluntary Carbon Program is available on Travel Agent bookings made via your Technology Partner connected to the Qantas Distribution Platform. Qantas encourages Travel Agents to contact your Technology Partner to find out when the Voluntary Carbon Program will be available to your agency.

The Voluntary Carbon Program is a voluntary program and carbon credits are not transferable and non-refundable. The payment made to compensate for a portion of the emissions will remain with the original flights when a customer chooses to change their itinerary. Qantas Frequent Flyer members will still earn points for the carbon credit purchased on their original itinerary even if that itinerary is cancelled or changed.

The Qantas Distribution Platform will automatically calculate the estimated cost for all customers in a single booking. If only one customer is choosing to participate in the Voluntary Carbon Program, Qantas recommends that the customer should be booked in a separate PNR.

No, once carbon credit is purchased the payment is non-refundable. Qantas Frequent Flyer members will still earn points for the carbon credits purchased on their original itinerary.
