Young Passengers travelling to or from the USA - Important reminder to Agents

Latest News|Published 4 December 2019

Agents are reminded that bookings cannot be accepted for Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passengers aged under 15 years when the itinerary includes a connection to/from American Airlines. American Airlines will not accept Unaccompanied Minors from Qantas or transfer Unaccompanied Minors to Qantas flights.

All UMNRs (under 12 years) and Young Passengers under 15 years travelling to/from the US require:

  • a parent/guardian to drop them off at the Qantas departure port; and
  • a main contact nominated by the parent/guardian to pick them up at the Qantas arrival port.

If an unaccompanied minor is travelling to or from the United States of America, the child's parent or guardian is required to drop the child off at the nominated location within the airport and must be contactable at all times. On arrival, handover will be made to the main contact nominated by the parent, guardian or responsible adult to pick up the unaccompanied minor.
