Getting into Nairobi from Nairobi Airport
With a range of transport options available at Nairobi Airport, travelling into the city centre is easy. Choose from taxis, ride-share, car rental, shuttle services or public transport. Car rental is a reliable way to travel with car rental agencies available at the terminal. There are long distance which provide transport for an inexpensive way to travel or shuttle services can be arranged to take you to your accommodation. Private taxis are a comfortable way to travel and are marked with a yellow stripe, or book a ride share service such as Uber.
Getting around Nairobi
Choose from public minibus taxis, buses, private taxi, ride share or car hire. Shared minibus taxis are the most popular form of public transport for locals and can take up to 14 passengers, though take care when travelling during peak hours. You can get on at any stop and pay cash to the driver as you board. Buses are a safer option as they are run by the government or take the City Hoppa. Seats are available and pay as you board. Private takes are the most popular way for tourists to get around and marked with a yellow stripe. They dan be found on most corners of the city and wait outside tourist attractions and hotels. If there is no meter, be sure to agree on a fare before you ride. Ride share apps such as Uber and Bolt are a safe way to travel and often cheaper than taxis, be booked through the app. If you plan on being in Nairobi for longer than a few days, renting a car is another option, though companies such as Europcar and Avis.
