When to visit
The best time to visit Burnie is in summer (January to March) to make the most of the warm weather activities. There are many festivals to visit, explore outdoor walking tracks and visit the nearby Boat Harbour. Temperatures range between 11°C to 21°C. Wintertime temperatures drop to 3°C and 11°C, making it the perfect time to relax indoors by a log fire. Burnie's Wynward airport is located 20kms west of the centre of Burnie. Regular taxi services meet every arriving flight, taking approximately 20 minutes to get to the town centre. A Metro public bus service stop is available from the terminal. If you're planning to hire a car, book ahead. Avis and Hertz both have desks in the airport terminal.
Getting around Burnie
