Best time to visit Alice Springs

With sun shining all year round and a calendar filled with fun and outdoor events, Alice Springs is a great destination to visit anytime. However, if you visit during spring (March - May) or autumn (September - November), you’ll enjoy warm, dry days and mild nights. The wet season stretches from November to April with tropical cyclones, storms and high humidity, though you’ll see wonderful sunsets.

Darwin Airport. Located 13km from the city centre on Henry Wrigley Drive, Marrara, Darwin International AirportOpens external site in a new window (DRW) is the busiest and largest airport in the Northern Territory. Both domestic (QF400 and above) and international (QF1-QF399) services operate from the same airport.

Getting into Alice Springs from the airport is just a short 15 minute drive. Catch the Airport Shuttle Bus, hop in a taxi or hire a car at the terminal when you arrive.

Getting around Alice Springs

Alice Springs is quite flat, so exploring by foot or hiring a bicycle is a great way to see the sights. There are also buses, taxis and hire cars available. Booking a tour is another great option to make the most of your time in the red centre.
