She’s modelled in New York, Paris and Tokyo, has a passion for fashion and is bursting with personality. So it’s no surprise Ksenija Lukich beat more than 1200 candidates to land the dream job as the face of E! Australia and co-host of The Hype. The role sees her travel the globe to interview some of the world’s most prominent stars – to date, she’s rubbed shoulders with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Rose Byrne and Jean Paul Gaultier. Here, Ksenija shares her best travel tips and tricks.

How often do you travel?

E! keeps me very busy, so I’m constantly travelling. I'd say at least every fortnight.

Where are you off to next?

Apart from a few domestic trips in the next few weeks, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a trip to LA in June. I love getting across to the E! studios as much as possible. It's such an awesome vibe over there.

What do you have in your carry-on bag?

I always pack my laptop, a book, noise-cancelling headphones, a change of clothes and a pretty full toiletries kit. I'm a very organised traveller; I like to prepare for every situation.

How do you stay comfortable on a flight?

Comfy clothing is a must and I always make sure I go for a walk up and down the cabin a few times to stretch my legs. I also love wearing noise-cancelling headphones – not only do they block out the sound of other people, but they also reduce the sound of the engine, which helps with getting a good night’s sleep and minimising jet lag.

What are your skincare tips for flying?

Keep hydrated. Travelling is very dehydrating, so I like to drink lots of water and take a Hydralyte to replenish any lost electrolytes. I also use a rosewater spray and lots and lots of moisturiser!

What is always in your suitcase?

My favourite high heels, a bikini and gym gear.

Do you have a secret to travelling light?

I always lay out everything I want to pack, then take away half. Although this technique has been failing me since landing the E! role, as you never know when you need to be on another red carpet! Packing light is definitely challenging.

What’s the most memorable place you’ve been to?

Every time I travel is memorable! I have two places that really stick out. The very first time I travelled to NYC was so special. I grew up dreaming of the Big Apple and seeing the Manhattan skyline for the first time was one of the most exciting times of my life. It really is an incredible melting pot, and even after living there I still get giddy with excitement every time I go. The other is Mykonos in Greece. It’s the only place I've ever been where people clap when the sun sets. Truly magical.

What is the most lavish place you’ve ever stayed in?

Qualia on Hamilton Island is one of my favourite places ever. It is so relaxing and luxurious.

How do you overcome jet lag?

I always try to get into the time zone I'm visiting as soon as I get on the plane. If I land in the morning, I'll go for a walk and try to stay active – maybe even get into a yoga class! Exercise does wonders for jet lag. I also take magnesium tablets, which help you sleep and soothe sore muscles.
