Sydney Airport and Qantas facial recognition trial

Sydney Airport and Qantas are trialing innovative new facial recognition technology to help you do just that.

To begin you’ll need to register at a Facial Recognition Kiosk at Sydney International Airport, before or after checking in. All you need to do is scan your passport and follow the on screen directions.

Drop your bag at the specialised bag drop and follow the onscreen prompts to scan your face.

If you're eligible to access the lounge, your image will be sent ahead to our team who will be ready to welcome you as you enter.

You’ll head through security and customs via your own dedicated lane. Look out for signs with directions and instructions.

When boarding, look for the dedicated line and follow the prompts on the screen.

You’ll still need to present your boarding pass and passport to our team once you are through the gate.

We’ve partnered with LAWA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to trial an integrated customs and boarding solution at Los Angeles World Airports. You won’t need your passport or boarding pass at the gate on selected flights. Instead, you’ll be boarded using information U.S Customs and Border Protection captured when you entered America.
