London Heathrow (LHR)Opens external site in a new window is the major airport servicing London and the south of England. Comprised of four terminals, it's located 24km (15 miles) west of the city.

Flights and terminal information

All Qantas and Emirates codeshare flights operate from Terminal 3.

Ticketing

Contact Qantas reservations within the United Kingdom for assistance with any ticketing or re-booking requirements.

Check-in

Check-in is located on the right hand side of Zone C in Terminal 3.

Airport check-in opens 4 hours before the first Qantas international flight and closes 1 hour before departure.

Online check-in is available for Qantas international flights (QF1-199), and other eligible connecting flights operated by oneworld, partner and codeshare airlines. Online check-in is open from 24 hours to two hours before departure for international flights.

For Qantas codeshare flights, customers need to check in with the operating carrier rather than with Qantas. Ask our team at the airport for more details.

If you're ending your journey at Heathrow, you'll need to clear immigration formalities, collect your baggage and then clear customs.

Customers regardless of nationality are no longer required to complete landing cards upon arrival into the UK.

In Terminal 3, all UK and EU passport holders should clear immigration through the dedicated lanes located on the left as you enter the immigration hall. No paperwork is required. Biometric enabled passport holders can also use the dedicated 'self clearance' machines.

Studying in the UK for up to 6 months? If you are from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea or the USA and your course is for less than 6 months, please see a Border Force officer at passport control to get a short-term student stamp in your passport.

Faster travel through the UK border

The UK Government has expanded the use of eGates at airports to more nationalities, including nationals from Australia. The UK’s ePassport gates, which have previously been available for British and EU nationals, provide a faster route through the border, allowing eligible passengers to be processed quickly and securely. Not every passenger will be able to use the eGates as some will need to get their passport stamped on arrival based on the purpose of their visit.

The following passengers can use the e-gates if they hold a biometric passport:
- British and EU citizens
- Citizens of Australia, Canada, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, USA, Liechtenstein
- Aged 12+ (12-17 year-olds to be accompanied by an adult)
- Members of the Registered Traveller Service
As part of the eGate expansion landing cards for all non-EEA passengers, across all routes, have been withdrawn.

Baggage

Carousels are located in the arrivals hall (ground floor). Information monitors display flight and carousel numbers. Baggage trolleys are readily available and free of charge.

Between terminals

If you've been checked through to your final destination, on arrival at Heathrow, simply follow the purple coloured signs to Flight Connections. From here you'll be provided with a free airside bus to your next departure terminal or can access the departures level if your next flight departs from Terminal 3.

Alternatively, the Heathrow ExpressOpens external site in a new window offers free travel between terminals; the station is approximately a 10 min walk via an underground walkway from the Terminal 3 arrivals area.

Qantas passengers with domestic transfers may not not need to clear immigration at Heathrow or collect their bags. Their luggage may be checked to their final destination and passengers can follow the signs to the Flight Connections Centre. Please confirm this with your Customer Service Representative upon check-in.

The Heathrow Connect Passenger train connects local stations Hayes, Harlington, Southall, Hanwell, West Ealing, Ealing Broadway, and London Paddington with Heathrow. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes.
