Frequently asked questions

What is ‘Green Tier’?
Green Tier is a way of recognising and rewarding members for taking steps, in the air and on the ground, to help reduce or compensate for their impact on the environment.

How do I achieve Green Tier?
To achieve Green Tier, you must complete an activity in five different categories out of six. The categories are:

  • Flying
  • Travelling
  • Lifestyle
  • Shopping
  • Learning
  • Give back

See Green Tier categories for further information.

Once I've unlocked Green Tier, how long will I enjoy the benefits for?
You can enjoy your Green Tier benefits from the moment you achieve Green Tier until the end of your next Membership Year. For example, if your Membership Year begins on 1 January 2025 and ends 31 December 2025, and you achieve Green Tier in June 2025, you can enjoy your membership benefits until 31 December 2026.

To enjoy your benefits for longer, complete five eligible activities each Membership Year to retain Green Tier. You can keep track of your Green Tier progress in My account or on the Qantas App

What’s the difference between Green Tier and Frequent Flyer status?
Your Frequent Flyer status is based on your flying behaviour with Qantas Group airlines and eligible partner airlines. It's calculated on the number of Status Credits you’ve earned in a Membership Year. Green Tier is achieved by completing five eligible activities across five of the six Green Tier categories in each Membership Year.

Will achieving Green Tier change my current Qantas Frequent Flyer status?
No, Green Tier sits alongside your current Qantas Frequent Flyer status, and doesn't change or impact it.

Can I transfer my Green Tier benefits to another Qantas Frequent Flyer account?
No, your Green Tier benefits are just for you to enjoy. You're unable to transfer your benefits to another Qantas Frequent Flyer, family member or friend.

When I complete a Green Tier category, how soon will this be updated in My account?
When a Green Tier activity has been completed, this will be reflected in the Green Tier progress tracker in your account within 21 days. As soon as the fifth category has been completed, Green Tier will be awarded and this will be reflected in your account within 21 days.

If I don’t complete all of my Green Tier categories in a Membership Year, will I lose my progress and have to start again next year?
Yes, achieving Green Tier is calculated on activities completed in your Membership Year. Each Membership Year this will reset.

What are the benefits of achieving Green Tier?
Once you've achieved Green Tier, you'll be recognised and rewarded with the following:

  • your choice of either 10,000 Qantas Points or 50 Status Credits
  • a unique digital Qantas Frequent Flyer card and option to change your Qantas App icon to the exclusive Green Tier version
  • invitations to exclusive events and experiences, when available
  • 150 bonus Qantas Points on all eco-accredited hotels and 250 bonus Qantas Points on Qantas Wine when you purchase an eligible case of six or 12.
