Arriving in Port Moresby

The friendly staff at Port Moresby Airport will greet you when you land and assist you with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Port Moresby from Port Moresby Airport

Getting into Port Moresby from the airport is easy, thanks to the range of transport options available. Choose from taxis, bus, hotel shuttle, private transfer or car rental. Taxi is a comfortable option and takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get to Port Moresby. Taxis are located outside the terminal and they are not metered, so it’s best to agree on a rate with your driver first. The PMV mini buses (Public Motor Vehicles) service all parts of the city and is a cheap way to travel. Buses have the route number printed on them and it’s easy to ask locals where the buses go. There are car rental companies available, though the roads are unsealed, so it's best to take a taxi. It’s possible to hail one on the street or get your hotel to call one for you.
