Stop by at Moonlight Cinema (running from June to October), held on the QT’s lawns, or swim in the striking lagoon pool with shallow sections for children and spots near the poolside bar for adults. Just out of Port Douglas are Mossman Gorge and the Daintree National Park, perfect for those who like a bit of adventure. And just offshore is the renowned Great Barrier Reef. If you do explore the reef, set aside a day to make the most of the experience.

Beyond the usual Hershey Bars and cans of soft drink, QT’s quirky minibar stocks pool essentials from beach balls and sunscreen to underwater cameras. Dominoes, pick-up sticks or a deck of cards are available for purchase, too.

The Bazaar is open for breakfast between 6.30am and 10.30am and serves just about everything, with a focus on local produce and quality.
