Vienna has warm summers, cold, dry and sometimes freezing in winter and mild in spring. The best times to visit are between April and May (spring) and September to October, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Getting into Vienna from Vienna Airport

The fastest way to get to Vienna city centre is to take the City Airport Train (CAT), taking just 16 minutes for a stress and traffic free journey. The rapid transit train is another convenient way to travel to the city, or you can take the Vienna Airport bus, with trains every 30 minutes and a trip time of 20 minutes. Other comfortable ways to travel include taxis, limousines or book an Uber through the app. It's possible to rent a car at Vienna Airport to travel freely throughout the city, or you can make use of the car share services at the airport.
Getting around Vienna
Whether you want to explore the Golden Quarter or visit the outlying Vienna Woods, getting around in Vienna is easy. The city has a very good public transport system, that is frequent, fast, clean, efficient and rarely overcrowded. The U-Bahn (subway) is a fast way to get across town and reach the suburbs, there are no ticket barriers, though you do need to buy a ticket. Karlsplatz, in the heart of the inner city, is the most important underground station for visitors. Riding the red and white street trams is a great way to see the city sights. Buses operate in all directions with regular services, and it's best to buy the Vienna Card as a ticket to use on all public transport with unlimited travel. Uber operate throughout the city and can take you to where you want to go, or alternatively you may wish to jump on the sightseeing bus or join an organised tour.
