Bangalore has a tropical savanna climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The best time to visit is during winter (October to February) to see the best sights of the city. The average temperature during winter is 27°C. Due to its high elevation, Bangalore usually enjoys a more moderate climate throughout the year, although occasional heat waves can make summer somewhat uncomfortable. Summer (June to September) does have frequent thunderstorms during late afternoon and evening. The coolest month is January with an average low temperature of 15°C and the hottest month is April with an average high temperature of 35°C.

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR).Opens external site in a new window It is an international airport serving Bangalore, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, in the southern part of India. It is located about 30 kilometres north of the city near the suburb of Devanahalli. The airport has both domestic and international terminals.

Arriving in Bangalore

The staff at Bangalore Airport will greet you when you land and from there, getting into town is easy.   

Getting into Bangalore from Kempegowda International Airport

There are a number of bus, taxi, shuttles, and car rental options available at the airport to take you to your destination. The BMTC Vayu Vajra bus service is an efficient and inexpensive mode of transport. The airport shuttle offers a seamless service to and from the city.  There is a suburban train that links to various destinations in the city. The Flybus is an inter-city air-conditioned bus service offered by KSRTC for travel between BLR Airport and cities in Karnataka and other South Indian states. Car rentals are available at the airport, along with an airport taxi service easily accessible from the arrival zone. App based taxi services are available to get you to your destination including Uber and Ola.

Getting around Bangalore

A rapid transit system called the Namma Metro is the rail system that can get you to the major sites. Buses operated by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) are an important and reliable means of public transport available in the city. Three-wheeled, yellow and black or yellow and green auto-rickshaws, referred to as autos, are a popular form of transport. It is possible to hire a car, though the roads are very busy. It's best to hire a taxi or book a ride share service through Uber or Ola. Tours can be arranged to see the top attractions such as the Lalbagh Gardens or Bull Temple.
