Places to stay

Wherever you want to stay during your visit, LA's world-class hotels are ready to welcome you.

Located in the heart of Hollywood, the Dream Hollywood and the W Hollywood are favourites of A-list celebrities for their sleek design, high-end restaurants and rooftop bar scenes.

Downtown LA options range from the historic Millennium Biltmore and Hotel Figueroa to modern hotels like the Ace Hotel, The Hoxton and Downtown LA Proper.

Planning to shop till you drop? Book a room at the Fairmont Century Plaza next to the Westfield Century City, the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills or the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.

If you prefer one-off finds to haute couture, check into the Silver Lake Pool & Inn, a hidden gem in the neighbourhood known for its eclectic shops and trendy restaurants.

For beach lovers, hotels in Malibu, Venice and the South Bay feature an "Endless Summer" mix of ocean views, coastal cuisine, and lively nightlife.

Things to do

Jampack your days in L.A. with as much shopping, sight seeing and roller coasters as you can handle or take it slow at the many art galleries, wellness centres and natural escapes.

A day at Universal Studios Hollywood is a must for movie fans and Potterheads - take the Studio Tour, explore Jurassic World, and be enchanted by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

If theme parks aren't your thing, head to the Museums of Miracle Mile for the spectacular new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, LA County Museum of Art, and the Petersen Automotive Museum. In Downtown LA, Exposition Park features the California African American Museum, California Science Center, and the Natural History Museum. Get up close to Van Gogh's "Irises" at the Getty Center, perched on a hilltop above Brentwood.

Surrounded by wilderness, LA's spectacular natural landscapes are perfect for outdoor adventurers. Enjoy an easy hike at Solstice Canyon in Malibu, or step up to Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills, where you might spot celebs walking their dogs. Be sure to make time for self-care: get pampered with an invigorating hotel spa session; chill out at the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades; and meditate at the Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens.

Food and drink

From food trucks to Michelin-starred restaurants, the Los Angeles dining scene is second to none. LA's diversity is showcased in its incredible food options - historic destinations like Grand Central Market and The Original Farmers Market; award-winning Oaxacan dishes at Guelaguetza; and phenomenal Asian cuisine in Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Koreatown and Thai Town.

LA bars are as renowned as the restaurants - sip a Martini at Hollywood's legendary Musso & Frank Grill, go tropical in the Tiki-Ti, and discover The Varnish, an acclaimed speakeasy in Downtown LA.

Getting around

From the airport: LAX has launched LAX-it, a convenient, amenity-rich, centralized area for guests to pick up a taxi or rideshare app service, and avoid traffic in the Central Terminal Area. LAX-it will only be for pickups - rideshare app and taxi drivers will continue to drop off passengers at the terminal curbs on the Upper/Departures Level.

LAX-it is located just east of Terminal 1 - it's a short walk from many terminals or accessible via a dedicated shuttle.

In and around the city: Most people hire a car to explore LA’s vast urban metropolis, but if you don't want to drive yourself around you can organise transfers or a tour. There's also the Metro Rail, Metro bus lines and DASH, which provide inexpensive and convenient transport across LA. If you're staying at one of LA’s famed beaches you can even hire a bike.
