Booking changes and other options
We want to provide our customers with as much certainty and flexibility as we can. If your travel plans have been impacted, read on to find out how we can help.
Last updated: 25 February 2021
On 25 February 2021, we announced a further suspension of scheduled international flights (with the exception of flights between Australia and New Zealand) until the end of October 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation. If you're booked to travel, wait to hear from us before taking any action.
If we’ve cancelled your Qantas flight, we'll rebook you on to the next available Qantas flight to your booked destination (if possible) and at no additional cost to you. Alternatively, you can choose a flight credit or a refund. You won’t be charged any change or cancellation fees. As we’ll be contacting anyone whose flight has been impacted as soon as possible, wait to hear from us before changing your booking.
Due to high demand, we're experiencing some delays in call wait times and the processing of flight credits, refunds and other options.
If your flights were booked through a travel agency or third-party website, contact these companies directly for assistance.

Australian domestic flights
If we’ve cancelled your Qantas flight, including your Classic Flight Reward booking, wait to hear from us before changing your booking. We'll rebook you on the next available flight to your booked destination (if possible), at no additional cost to you. Alternatively, you can choose a flight credit or a refund. You won’t be charged any change or cancellation fees. We’ll be contacting anyone whose flight has been impacted as soon as possible.
We continue to review and update our international schedule in response to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.
We're now planning to restart regular international passenger flights to most destinations from 31 October 2021, in line with the expected timeframe for Australia's COVID-19 vaccine rollout to be effectively complete.
Our flights between Australia and New Zealand continue to operate, with plans for flights to increase from 1 July 2021.
Customers holding existing bookings for international flights that are impacted by schedule changes are being contacted as soon as possible and provided with a number of options, including a refund for any flights cancelled by us. You don’t need to do anything, and you won’t be charged any cancellation fees. You can choose to cancel your flight yourself. However, if you do, you may be charged a cancellation fee in accordance with your fare rules.
We’ll continue to work closely with the Australian Federal Government around the reopening of borders to support COVID-safe international travel.
Some Australian states and territories have introduced measures, including additional health and safety protocols, in response to Coronavirus that may impact interstate travel.
Before travel, ensure you check the latest government travel requirements, which may include mandatory health declarations, use of face masks, entry permits, pre-approval and quarantine (possibly at your own expense), or you could be denied entry.
If your travel plans are affected by border restrictions, contact your local Qantas office to discuss your options.
