We have resumed a limited schedule between New Zealand and Australia.

If you're planning to travel to Australia, although some Australian state and territory borders remain closed, flights are still operating on many routes across our domestic network.

Before booking, check the latest New Zealand and Australian domestic travel restrictions or you could be denied entry. Refer to Australian domestic network updates for a full list of destinations.

We'll continue to monitor demand in line with government restrictions, and the schedule is subject to change.

Travel restrictions

Before booking, ensure you check the latest New ZealandOpens external site in a new window and AustralianOpens external site in a new window government travel requirements, which may include mandatory health declarations, use of face masks, entry permits, pre-approval and quarantine (possibly at your own expense), or you could be denied entry.

Travel to Australia from New Zealand

You can travel from New Zealand to selected states in Australia.

To book a flight, you must have spent at least 14 days in New Zealand prior to your date of travel, and not have been in an area designated as a COVID-19 hotspot. The Australian Government is defining a hotspot using a three-day rolling average of three locally acquired cases per day.

You'll be required to complete an Australian Travel Declaration Opens external site in a new windowform and provide it at check-in confirming you've been in New Zealand for the past 14 days.

Travel to New Zealand from Australia

If you're travelling from Australia to New Zealand restrictions remain in place.

Ensure you meet the Australian government requirements to depart Australia and the New Zealand government requirements to enter New Zealand

If you are eligible for travel, the following requirements apply:

  • In order to book a flight, please visit the Manage Isolation Quarantine Government websiteOpens external site in a new window to register for a Managed Isolation Allocation System Voucher, which will be required at check-in. You will have to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in New Zealand.
  • Note: there is a hotel quarantine cap in New Zealand and if you're unable to secure a hotel Voucher, you'll need to defer your travel plans.
  • You are not transiting from an international flight

Inflight and airport services

Due to the reduction in travel demand and government restrictions we have temporarily changed some of our services. This includes changes to your check-in experience, a significantly reduced food and beverage and inflight entertainment offering, as well as access to airport lounges.

Disclaimer: * This offer applies to all Qantas Australian domestic and Trans-Tasman operated flights for the following dates: Australian Domestic: booked between 21 May 2020 and 31 March 2021, for travel between 12 June 2020 and 31 March 2021. Trans-Tasman: booked between 15 October 2020 and 31 March 2021, for travel between 16 October 2020 and 31 March 2021. If you decide to change the date of your travel, we'll waive the change fee one time. You'll need to change your flight before your scheduled date of departure and travel before 31 March 2021. When you're ready to rebook, you'll also need to cover any fare increase for your new flight, if applicable.
