Places to stay

With coastal resorts, self-catering apartments and picturesque camping spots, Coffs Harbour is the perfect place to bring the entire family. Wake up to spectacular views of the water from your holiday rental, with an easy walk to the jetty, beaches and cafes on the harbor for a stress free holiday. If surf beaches are more your speed, choose to stay at a motel along Sapphire Beach. If you prefer a resort-style holiday or honeymoon the secluded Safety Beach is the place to stay, with boutique hotels and luxury homes available to rent. For a destination wedding or golfing weekend, a range of mid-priced hotels are located along Park Beach, close to the shopping centre, cafes and bowling club.

Things to do

Coffs Harbour is well known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere, but there are plenty of activities and attractions for the more energetic. As it sits right on the edge of the Solitary Islands Marine Park, the coast is a haven for whales, dolphins, turtles and grey nurse sharks – making the region a snorkelling and diving paradise. Head north of town and visit the stunning beaches and tidal rock platforms of Sapphire Beach, Emerald Beach and Woolgoolga Beach. If you’re visiting between May and November, you can watch magnificent whales migrate up the coast on a whale watching tour, or from the coastal headlands.

No visit is complete without a mandatory stop at the iconic Big Banana Fun Park. Be sure to pose for a fun photo in front of the giant banana and grab a banana smoothie! After visiting the main attractions you can browse the Coffs Harbour Uptown Markets then sit back with a cool drink or ice cream at one of the local cafes and restaurants along Harbor Drive.

Explore the region

North of town is a string of stunning beaches - Sapphire Beach, Emerald Beach and, our favourite Woolgoolga Beach with its tidal rock platforms.

South of town is the beachside community of Sawtell, boasting an abundance of cafes, restaurants and boutique stores as well as reserves, picnic areas and playgrounds.

If you're looking for some tranquillity, Urunga in the south is perfect for a getaway with a consistently warm year-round climate. Similarly, Bellingen is a relaxing retreat and home to Australia’s largest regional markets attracting visitors from all around New South Wales. Or hire a car and spend a day among the rainforest at World Heritage-listed Dorrigo National Park.
