A highlight on Sydney’s culinary calendar, March into Merivale returns for its eighth year in 2016 with a delectable series of events. Encompassing the theme “Guilty Pleasures”, this year’s festival spans five weeks from 14 February to 20 March, and gives revelers the opportunity to gorge on world-class food, wine, champagne and entertainment. And don’t you forget dessert . . .
Here’s what not to miss.
Kick off March into Merivale at the official Launch Party on February 10, which is set to be bigger and better than ever. Taking over the entire ivy complex and its surrounding laneways, all of Merivale’s venues will be on show along with live entertainment and plenty of surprises. $45 for eight food and drink tokens with top-ups available on the night.
Celebrated pastry chef Lorraine Godsmark presents a decadent chocolate class and tasting as part of the festival’s Monday-night Show & Tell series. Indulge on one of the world’s favourite vices with a bounty of bubbles and a special treat to take home. $75 per person.
Chef Signature Thursdays
Enjoy a bespoke dining experience at some of Sydney’s most iconic venues each Thursday night. Don’t miss chef Dan Hong convert Ms. G’s into a sneaker-themed den for a shared sit-down dinner replete with hip-hop and giveaways. $150 per person.
Coogee Foreshore Festival
On March 20, the beachside Coogee Pavilion will be transformed into a foodie’s playground with tastings from some of Merivale’s finest, including Papi Chulo, Sushi E and Mr. Wong. There will be plenty of family fun including face-painting and live music. $25/$45 for three-six food and drink tokens.
Those seeking a little more surprise in their weekly schedule would do well to book a Mystery Feast. Guests will be treated to a three-course dinner with complementary wines, but will only find out the venue a few hours before it is served. $75 per person.
