How to Keep Your Data Safe While Travelling

Off on holidays? Get access to your files, no matter how patchy the internet connection at your destination, by loading a portable drive with all your working documents, images and videos.

Samsung has built a solid reputation in the world of portable solid-state drives, with a stable of small and light products that pack in an amazing amount of storage. But even by the high standards of the products that have come before, the Samsung Portable SSD T5 is an innovative leap in the world of secure storage.

For content creators – photographers, videographers and beyond – the Samsung Portable SSD T5 offers significantly more storage than a regular flash drive, giving you peace of mind that your hard work is travelling with you safely and securely.

The drives start at a sizeable 250GB and head right up to a very professional-level 2TB of storage. And when you’re talking about storage devices that large, the speed of the drive becomes extremely important. The T5 offers very quick transfer speeds of up to 4.9 times faster than a conventional external hard drive. These are industry leading SATA transfer speeds of up to 540 MB/s, which get a further performance boost thanks to Samsung’s proprietary V-NAND technology.

Connectivity is provided via USB-C, with Samsung packing both a USB Type-C to C cable and a USB Type-A to C into the box so older devices aren't left out in the cold.

Size-wise, it earns the Samsung Portable SSD T5 “portable” part of its name. Weighing in from just 51g, it’s around the same size as a standard business card (although a little thicker, of course). But with overall dimensions of 74 x 57.3 x 10.5mm, it’s been designed to slip into any size bag. Plus, it's also pretty easy on the eye, with a bright blue for the 250GB and 500GB drives and a smart-looking black for the 1TB and 2TB options.

Finally, there are the security features. The T5 uses PSSD Password Protection Software based on AES 256-bit hardware encryption to keep your sensitive data as safe as possible. The drive itself is physically quite tough and shock resistant, able to survive accidental drops of up to two metres.
