London’s sexiest hotel might be here: the newly opened The Twenty Two, a hybrid hotel and private members club in the heart of ritzy Mayfair. The exterior of the Edwardian building is all chic white stucco, but inside, get ready to party, with leopard print carpeted hallways, big bedrooms in shades of red and blue, and a basement club for dancing the night away.

Where is The Twenty Two?

You’ll find the property on leafy Grosvenor Square in London’s upmarket Mayfair neighbourhood, about 40 minutes from Heathrow Airport by the Elizabeth Line to Bond Street or 45-60 minutes by taxi.

What’s near The Twenty Two?

The surrounding neighbourhood couldn’t be better. The stay is right on the edge of Hyde Park, with the boutiques of Mount Street, Bond Street and Selfridges just a short stroll away and the restaurants of Soho a brisk 15 minute walk. Head down through Mayfair and you’ll reach Green Park and, just beyond that, Buckingham Palace, only about 20 minutes on foot from the hotel. The rest of the city is accessible via Bond Street and Marble Arch Tube stations.

Room types

The 31 rooms include an apartment called The Mews House, perfect for those seeking extra privacy thanks to its separate street entrance on Lees Place. Other options range from cosy rooms to larger studios, complete with living space and Cabochon marble bathrooms. The stand-out room is The Terrace Suite on the hotel’s highest floor, which has views of Mayfair’s Grosvenor Square.

Restaurants and bars

Lunch and dinner are served daily at The Twenty Two’s The Restaurant, which also opens its doors for a Sunday Roast every weekend, from midday until 3pm. Memorable dishes include a spiced cauliflower entrée and a main course of roast chicken with a generous topping of truffle shavings. On Sundays, get in early for the famous roast, which is accompanied by a feather-light Yorkshire pudding. Breakfast is served daily for hotel guests in the private Living Room lounge area, where members and guests can take meetings or work during the day. Phones are politely requested to be put away (no calls, at least), but you can scroll Instagram quietly while you have your morning eggs Benedict or avocado on toast.

Sustainability

Guests can request not to have their towels and linen changed, water is provided in stylish tapered glass carafes and the bespoke toiletries all come in recyclable aluminium tubes.

Accessibility

The Twenty Two is housed in a restored Edwardian building that presents accessibility challenges. Though there is a lift to all floors and accessible room types are available when booking, there are stairs throughout the building.

Travel for work

For those working remotely, the wi-fi connection is strong in all corners of the hotel. You won’t find a more glamorous or impressive client meeting space in London than The Living Room, a private space for members and hotel guests. Bear in mind that you can’t take phone calls in the Living Room. Also, after office hours the vibe at the hotel does relax significantly with the opening of The Music Room, The Twenty Two’s private club space for members and guests. The hotel is incredibly well insulated and if you are in town for work, nobody playing downstairs will interrupt your sleep.

Gym

Although there is no gym on site, staff will set up guests with complimentary access to BXR, a nearby, state-of-the-art Mayfair gym. They can also source personal trainers or yoga instructors and arrange bookings for a massage, facial, hair or make-up at some of London’s best salons.

What you need to know
