Türkbükü, on the Bodrum Peninsula, right in the heart of the Turkish Riviera, is the setting for this week’s splurge. Billed as “the ultimate hedonist’s hideaway”, the bougainvillea- and hibiscus-draped Maçakizi hotel is open after a winter season of refurbishments, which included the addition of a luxury private motorboat.

Situated atop a hill of olive groves, with panoramic views over the Aegean Sea, Maçakizi is an exercise in understated luxury – a place where contemporary polish meets old-world charm. Accommodation is in a collection of chic cottages that tumble down the hill from the main hotel building, each with breathtaking views through floor-to-ceiling windows and secluded from its neighbour by the lush natural foliage.

Right on the waterfront, shaded by white sail awnings, the hotel’s bar attracts the beautiful people, who gather to sip a cold drink and watch the sun sink into the sea. Up a few stone steps, chef Aret Sahakyan uses the best local and seasonal ingredients in his menu that combines Turkish and Mediterranean techniques and flavours.

And then there’s that motorboat, which is available for charter for up to 10 passengers. Guests can choose to take a diving trip, explore the local beaches or head off to the bright lights of Mykonos, just a two-hour sail away.

All this can be yours starting from $700 (exchange rates permitting) per night, with the motorboat adding $1800 for four hours. Şerefe!
