To really appreciate the unique geographical beauty of Istanbul, one must take a stroll along the shores of the majestic Bosphorus. Head to Rumeli Hisar fortress early in the morning and like any sensible İstanbullu, have a leisurely breakfast at one of the many places along the coastal roadside. Visit the fortress before heading south about 15 minutes to Bebek. As you go, keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and submarines. In Bebek, you’ll find the beautifully situated Bebek Park, a favourite amongst locals and an ideal place to spend some time. Feeling peckish? Head to nearby Kantin (Cevdet Paşa Cad. No:43/C, Beşiktaş) for takeaway snacks or, for something more hearty, double back north up Cevdet Paşa to Mangerie (Bebek Mh., Cevdet Paşa Caddesi No:69). Post lunch, walk south another 15 minutes to the Arnavutköy district. It’s rod-fishing heaven and there are a plethora of excellent fish restaurants for supper.
