Mikla

Perched on top of the Marmara Pera Hotel, Mikla offers a unique fine-dining experience with spectacular views of the city. Chef Mehmet Gürs is half Finnish, half Turkish and made his name bringing a fusion of Turkish and Scandinavian cuisine to Istanbul. While this unique slant is still on the menu, Mehmet is now pioneering what he has termed the “New Anatolian Kitchen”. His goal is to “embrace the cultural differences that make the area special and express the rich and vibrant character of the region”. Mikla is one of the most noted restaurants in Istanbul and worth the splurge. It offers novelty, theatre and fine dining. Combined with pre-dinner cocktails at sunset overlooking the view, it’s an excellent choice for a romantic evening.
Location
In Beyoğlu, on the majestic Istiklal Street, you’ll discover shops, eateries and the leading contemporary Turkish art galleries and institutions. As night falls, particularly in the Tunel district, bistros, cocktail bars and burger joints mingle with traditional Turkish meyhanes. Hip crowds of young professional Turks sway to jazz, electronica and Balkan groove while traditional-suited musicians wind their way from table to table, instruments and drums in hand, all blending to create the vibrant cacophonic glory that is Istanbul at night.
