Gaspar

This restaurant/lounge/cocktail bar combo is chef/owner Ferit Sarper’s second venue, hot on the heels of his great success with Münferit (Yeni Çarşı Caddesi No.19). Gaspar has uber-cool credentials: it’s named after Argentinian art-house director Gaspar Noé and the interiors are the creation of hot local design firm Autoban. The varied menu has a Mediterranean bias and there are lots of interesting, less common dishes to explore - think moreish yam soup or a sublime tahini crème brûlée. After dinner, hit the cocktails and either kick back or get your groove on: the DJ here spins tunes into the wee hours.
Location
Istanbul’s original docks area, Karaköy, is currently undergoing a rapid transformation. The incoming creative community is making great use of the once derelict and abandoned spaces. Here, boutiques, bistros and third-wave coffee shops are cropping up next to the machinists and artisans who remain.
