Call Arian Mostaedi and ask to book his Three-Bedroom Modernist Terrace located a street over from Carrer d'Ausiàs Marc – this is possibly as close to staying in Casa Milà as you can get, and you could definitely be excused for thinking this flamboyant 18th-century building was designed by Gaudi himself. Arian is a publisher of architecture and design books and the apartment is full of them. If you get the chance to meet him, pick his brain about lesser-known architectural hotspots to see in Barcelona.

This apartment is split into two completely separate sections, both with their own kitchens and bathrooms, connected by the large and leafy roof terrace that is an ideal spot to watch Barcelona’s vivid sunsets. The decor is very hard to describe  – one of the wood-heavy bathrooms has a large stained-glass-style feature that hides the toilet area, accessed only by stepping over and behind the bathtub. And then there are the resident tortoises in their outdoor terrarium, which have been known to escape and explore the terrace with you. With lots of space and being in a quiet and centrally located area, it’s a great option for a family and can be booked as separate units or as the whole apartment.

Location

Eixample is a large, centrally located district of Barcelona – you’ll find long, tree-lined, busy streets, desirable apartments and many of Gaudi’s most popular buildings, including Casa Batllo and Casa Mila/La Pedrera.
