This is an attraction that many visitors aren’t actually looking for, but stumble upon while they are wandering around Plaça Comercial (maybe looking for a drink at Bormuth) and think it is a market. It was indeed once a bustling market but is now an open archaeological site where visitors can freely explore the Barcelona of the 18th century through found objects – from bedroom items to bombs.

Location

El Born is a trendy neighbourhood with lots of great boutiques, galleries and bars on its winding streets. It’s an ideal location: it has the medieval ambience of the neighbouring Gothic Quarter, a bit of the local vibe of also neighbouring Barceloneta, and spills out onto the large and leafy Parc de la Ciutadella.
