Rough luxe is hot and no-one’s nailing the look better than the G-Rough hotel with its oak ceilings, exposed beams, textured plaster walls and chairs clad in vintage fabric.
Part of the Design Hotels portfolio and housed in a 17th-century Roman bourgeois building, G-Rough is a 10-suite hotel, spread over five storeys, with each floor paying tribute to an influential 20th-century Italian designer – from Ico Parisi to Giò Ponti. In fact, original pieces of furniture by these heavyweights are juxtaposed with contemporary lamps and sofas, creating an eclectic mix.
The hotel scores in the location department, too – it’s in the heart of the Italian capital, only metres from Piazza Navona. All suites offer either courtyard or city views – and we absolutely love the claw-foot bathtubs.
