Located just off rue Saint-Honoré, this former palace with its elegant central garden now draws both the serious shopper and families alike. Its covered exterior arcades house brands including Pierre Hardy, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs and Rick Owens, as kids happily run up and down its pebble-covered formal garden. As mums shop, dads pull up a chair beside one of the fountains with a green juice in one hand and a coffee in the other. Two birds with one stone, as they say.

Housing the Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Place Vendôme, Palais-Royal and perhaps Paris’ most famous style strip rue Saint-Honoré, the 1st arrondissement is situated principally on the Right Bank of the Seine. As one of Paris’ oldest areas it also showcases some of its most spectacular public buildings, hotels, restaurants and gardens.
