La Perle has long been a favourite Marais meeting spot, drawing a creative crowd of all ages from petit déjeuner to midnight. Prime time is 4pm and on a sunny afternoon the corner cafe will be bustling with Kooples advertising campaign lookalikes (French actor Romain Duris is a regular) having their afternoon espressos, full reds or a chilled glass of rosé. The result is amazing people watching, despite the basic 1970s décor. The cafe does serve food but overall La Perle is more of a drink and charcuterie board or assiette de fromage kind of establishment.

Location

The former Jewish quarter of the Marais is a melting pot of cool corners. Whether you are seeking casual bistros to watch the passing fashion parade, local art galleries, organic supermarkets or specialty artisan stores – also note that the Marais is the only designer shopping district open on a Sunday – this arrondissement’s cobblestone streets posses style in spades.
