A three-star apartment hotel with all the self-serviced convenience you can imagine, Citadines Trocadéro is a contemporary home-away-from-home, ideal for families. Featuring 97 rooms, studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, the pet-friendly hotel is located in a residential corner of Paris’s tranquil 16th arrondissement, within easy reach of major monuments, museums, parks and transport. The Eiffel Tower, for instance, is a leisurely 20-minute walk away. The common areas, freshly updated in soft tones of blue, rose and caramel as part of a €2.4-million (AU$3.7 million) renovation, include a dining area for breakfast, cosy lounge with fireplace and a lush garden terrace. The hotel has a laundry and on-site parking.

The location

In the elegant 16th arrondissement, between the Seine and the vast Bois de Boulogne, Citadines Trocadéro is walking distance from the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Elysées and Place du Trocadéro, with its postcard view of the Eiffel Tower. It’s about 90 minutes by taxi from Charles de Gaulle airport.

The rooms

Modern and practical, in grey, beige and plum hues, the 97 rooms range from the petit Classique (12 square metres) to Deluxe two-bedroom apartments (50 square metres), which sleep up to six. A family of four will find all they need in a self-contained one-bedroom apartment: a well-equipped kitchen with hotplate, microwave, fridge and dishwasher; a good-size bathroom with bath and shower; and a dining/living room, with a second flat-screen TV and a comfortable sofa bed.

Food and drink

The lobby-level dining area serves buffet-style breakfast from 7am, offering continental options (pastries, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, charcuterie) and hot dishes (eggs, bacon, sausages); complimentary coffee is available all day. There’s also a fully equipped common kitchen, which is accessible 24 hours a day. The recently refurbished décor is in muted shades of dusty blue, pink and beige. The serviced apartments are ideal for self-catering (even the smallest rooms have a kitchenette) and the neighbourhood has no shortage of restaurants – from brasseries with Eiffel Tower views to casual pizza joints.
