Downtown Hobart has been revived by small boutiques. Venture up the stairs to Oyster & Pearl where you’ll find the work of local fashion designer Lou Whiting (147 Liverpool Street, First Floor). Head to Luxe (134 Liverpool Street) to browse recognisable brands or drop by Ally + Me for gorgeous clothes and homewares (139 Liverpool Street).

Six times a year, The Market fills the Masonic Temple opposite the park on Sandy Bay Road and showcases a curated collection of Tasmanian art and design. If you’ve forgotten your winter woollies or are planning a trip into the Tasmanian wilderness, you’ll find all you need at the adventure and camping shops on Elizabeth Street between Bathurst and Liverpool Streets.  Fancy a picnic in the park? Truckle & Co (141 Bathurst Street) have a delicious range of European cheeses and everything you need to go with them.
