The Barossa is already a pretty special place thanks to its gorgeous rolling hills and world-renowned wines. Add your romantic partner and accommodation at The Louise to the mix and pretty special becomes very special indeed. Swim a few laps in the infinity pool overlooking the vineyards, spot a kangaroo grazing amid the vines as the sun goes down or soak in the sun while using the outdoor rain shower before enjoying an in-room massage. There’s no need to be overwhelmed by the dining options in the Barossa –  the in-house restaurant, Appellation, offers a la carte dining or a chef’s tasting menu. If you’ve been exploring surrounding wineries, you can take your own bottle of wine. Otherwise, get the sommelier to help you choose from the more than 400 wines in the restaurant cellar. Call when booking to ask for a room with a sunset view.

The Louise sits atop a gentle hill and is surrounded by picturesque vineyards and olive groves. It’s a short walk to Two Hands Wines down the road, Tscharke Wines just across the fence or Heritage Wines next door. More wineries, including Rockford, Charles Melton and Turkey Flat, are a short drive away. Nearby you’ll find Tanunda, a town of 4700 people marked by church spires and the dark ironstone cottages and barns of the region’s early European settlers. The Barossa Visitor Information Centre (66 Murray St, Tanunda) is open seven days a week.
