Penny University for Great Coffee

Known as the city of churches, Adelaide could now also be called the city of coffee, such is the number of lovely little cafes dotted throughout the streets. Ask a local which is their favourite and they’re likely to point to a number of sweet spots, from Coffee Branch’s impeccable coffee on Leigh Street and Please Say Please’s ever-changing macaron menu on Grenfell Street, to Bar 9’s quality blends and great staff at Adelaide Central Plaza. A new favourite is Penny University on Union Street, in the city’s East End. This little gem is named after 18th century coffee houses in London where people paid a penny to enter and enjoy coffee, company and the latest gossip. Squeeze into a seat at the street-facing bar from 7am and enjoy people watching, good coffee and a solid breakfast from staff whose sole aim is to serve healthy, fresh and tasty food.
Location
Penny University is located off Rundle Street, which hosts fashion boutiques and cafes by day and casual dining and bars by night. Nearby Ebenezer Place hosts a number of cute shops that are serious about vintage clothing and wares, local food and denim.
