Jam Factory and Zu Design for Unique Jewellery

While Adelaide is home to a number of manufacturing jewellers, estate jewellers and the odd vintage costume jewellery enthusiast (wander the Antiques Market on Grote Street for hidden treasure), there are two companies doing things outside of the jewellery box. JamFactory is a not-for-profit organisation that supports and promotes design and craftsmanship through its studios, galleries and shops, with locations in Adelaide’s city centre and Seppeltsfield in the Barossa Valley. Find a range of hand-crafted ceramics, glassware, jewellery and other collectables by leading Australian artists and designers, including products made in the JamFactory studios. This also supports local artists, exhibitions and training programs.
Zu Design is a smaller outlet that hosts a workshop and gallery showcasing the work of more than 80 contemporary jewellers. If you’re looking for something different, such as a ring woven with gold thread, bracelets crafted from jewel-coloured plastics or chunky crystal earrings, Zu Design has you covered.
Location
JamFactory’s main exhibition space and shop is located in Adelaide’s medical, education and entertainment West End precinct. It’s right next to the Mercury Cinema, a not-for-profit theatre that supports the development of screen culture. Zu Design is located upstairs in Gays Arcade, off the historic Adelaide Arcade in the Rundle Mall precinct.
