Snapper Rocks is the restaurant Darwin had to have: a relaxed indoor/outdoor space by the water with plenty to share and the kind of drinks list that turns “I’ll drive” into “let’s Uber”.

Enter through the cool drift of mist from overhead fans and you’ll see a long room in blues and yellows. Behind an impressive bar, owner and star barkeep David Robinson whips up Mango Daiquiris or riffs on the standard Gin and Tonic ($10 during G&T happy “hour”, from 3pm to 6pm daily).

Reef Fish Tartar

The food is mostly local and seafood-focused. Choose wild-caught barramundi or snapper, salt and pepper crocodile or a generous seafood board for the table.  Northern Territory Eva Valley Meats beef short ribs will keep the carnivores coming back. Service is still finding its stride but you’ll want to linger.
