The St. Regis Singapore – Hotel Review

Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Chen Ke Zhan are just three of the iconic artists whose works are permanent fixtures at St. Regis Singapore. Yes, this stately hotel on Orchard Road doubles as an art gallery, with an SGD$10-million private art collection of more than 70 paintings, sculptures and prints subtly sprinkled through the public spaces of the property. This appreciation of art is the focus of the hotel’s wider design choices and elevates even the most seemingly common of spaces. The outdoor swimming pool provides the backdrop to a bulbous Li Chen sculpture, while check-in happens alongside a stunning, almost gilded 17th-century Chinese mural called Gathering of the Immortals, the implication being that the hotel is a meeting place for esteemed guests. And so it is; both Hillary Clinton and Prince Harry have enjoyed stays at this grand property. Here, even the mundane feels a little bit special.

With the hotel’s fleet of chauffeur-driven Bentleys at your service, it’s a five-minute trip down the road to Singapore Botanic Gardens, 10 minutes to the National Museum of Singapore or a 20-minute drive to Gardens by the Bay. If you’d rather walk, Orchard Road’s boutiques and restaurants of Orchard Road, a tree-lined stretch of boutiques, malls and restaurants, is just a four-minute stroll away.

There are 299 rooms across 10 categories, starting with the 50-square-metre Executive Deluxe room. All include a French Breche de Benou marble bathroom, Bose sound system and complimentary pressing service (two garments per person) on arrival. The 335-square-metre Presidential Suite on level 20 has a view of the Botanic Garden, while the Caroline Astor Suites on levels 8 to 18 have an almost 180-degree view of the city.

Restaurants and bars

Fancy an aperitif? Stop for a flute of vintage champagne at The Drawing Room or a cocktail at Astor Bar, where the Bloody Mary has been the signature drink for more than 80 years. Then, dine at Shinji, a Michelin-star Japanese restaurant renowned for its exceptional sushi; Yan Ting, which serves Cantonese-inspired dishes, with private and semi-private dining spaces for special occasions; or Brasserie Les Saveurs, which offers classic French cuisine and a wine cellar with more than 1000 vintages from around the world.

Travel for work

The hotel has 1330 square metres of meeting space, which can be configured to your requirements, and a Business Centre with complimentary high-speed Wi-fi and printing services.

Spa, pool and gym

The hotel’s Remède Spa houses a Finnish sauna, eucalyptus-scented steam rooms and an outdoor spa garden. It’s open by appointment only, from 10am to 7pm daily. Mani-pedis were designed by French podiatrist Bastien Gonzalez, while the signature treatment is a 90-minute Warm Jade Stone Massage. There’s also a 24-hour fitness centre and an outdoor pool, nestled between high-rise buildings and surrounded by an array of tropical foliage which is open until 10pm daily.

What you need to know

A 24-hour butler service is available to all guests and is complimentary with some rooms. In addition to packing luggage, butlers can also book you on a tour of the hotel’s private art collection. Tours run every evening at 6pm and bookings are essential.
