Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel – Hotel Review

The upscale Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza is as well-known for its elegantly appointed rooms and authentic Cantonese delicacies at on-site restaurant Wan Hao, as it is for its distinctive, green-tiled pagoda roof. Read on for the full review.
Although perched on top of Orchard Road's famous TANGS department store, discretion remains the name of the game. Not visible from street level, the hotel’s rooftop pool feels calm and private, thanks to curtained cabanas. Meanwhile, The Other Room, previously noted as one of the World’s 50 Best Bars is “hidden” in the hotel lobby. Uncovering the property's little secrets is all part of the fun.

Rooms within the 30-floor hotel range from Deluxe and Premiere Deluxe right up to the executive suites. While the Executive Suite gives you access to the M Club Lounge on 5th floor (and exceptional views of the cityscape), families with kids under 12 won’t get the full benefit — guests under the age of 12 aren’t permitted. Pool Terraces offer something a little special including a free-standing bath, views of the pool, and an outdoor seating area. Bathrobes, rainfall showers and natural THANN bath products come standard in all rooms. For large groups or families, connecting or adjoining rooms can be provided if requested in advance.
Restaurants and bars

Crossroads is a light and open street-level restaurant where Western meets local cuisine; here you can find both Wagyu beef and local favourite Singapore Laksa Lemak, with quail egg and prawns, on the menu. For classic Cantonese dishes, there’s Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant. The setting is refined and traditional; think gold leaf calligraphy and chinois artwork. Wok-fried Beef Tenderloin with Black Garlic Sauce, Peking Duck and Pork Ribs with Mandarin Orange are among some of Executive Sous Chef Brian Wong’s signature dishes.
In the lobby you’ll find Java+, a deli and coffee shop with freshly baked bread and pastries, which also serves an array of High Tea creations in the Lobby Lounge twice daily.
The Other Room, the hotel’s much-lauded bar, focuses on ‘cask-finished’ spirits, with some 300 of them appearing on the menu. Our advice? Try them in a cocktail, with ingredients spanning rosehip, mole and “nutty tea”.
Travel for work

All rooms feature a desk and free Wi-fi. There is also a business centre, multiple event spaces for meetings or conferences – including AV equipment. Those staying in an Executive Room have access to the exclusive M Club Lounge (and complimentary hot breakfast buffet, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails), as well as complimentary garment pressing for two items per night.
Spa, pool and gym
The outdoor pool, located on level five, is undoubtedly one of the hotel’s highlights. The sun loungers and cabanas give it a resort-style feel and the skyline, which hugs its edges, is wonderful at sundown. The gym is open 24/7 and there's also a plunge pool, jacuzzi and sauna located in the gym changing area, all available for guests if you're receiving a spa treatment (the on-site Ayuverdic spa, Serena Spa, is operated separately to the hotel).

For families that need a little extra space, the Family Suite is located near the pool terrace and features two separate bedrooms.
