Orchard Hotel Singapore – Hotel Review

You won’t find cookie cutter hotel rooms at Orchard Hotel Singapore, a glitzy stay on buzzy Orchard Road. Vibrant patterns grace carpets and soft furnishings in the stately rooms (you can thank French interiors master Pierre-Yves Rochon for the jewel-toned Signature Premier Room), while Deco-inspired murals dance along the walls of the recently revamped on-site lounge bar. Read on for the full review.
Occupying twin buildings on Orchard Road, the 656-room hotel also boasts Hua Ting Restaurant, a much lauded eatery that does Cantonese with a contemporary flair and another little gem — a generous outdoor swimming pool, ringed by skyscrapers. It’s a little flamboyant and a lot of fun; just like its namesake shopping strip.
Where is Orchard Hotel Singapore?

Orchard Hotel Singapore is located at the western end of Orchard Road, before it splits into Orange Grove and Tanglin Roads. From here, it takes around 30 minutes by car to reach Changi International Airport, the city’s biggest airport. The closest MRT station (Orchard Road) is reachable by foot in less than 15 minutes and links to wider Singapore, including the marina and the very popular Gardens by the Bay.
What’s near Orchard Hotel Singapore?
Proximity to Orchard Road is one of this property’s biggest drawcards. Shopping centres abound at this end of the famous street, including ION Orchard and TANGS, so you won’t need to cart your haul very far. The Botanic Gardens is a 15-minute walk away. Start at the Bonsai Garden near the Cluny Road entrance, where you can see close to 50 tiny, carefully pruned trees.
Room types
There are eight room types at Orchard Hotel Singapore, each with their own distinctive decor flair, beginning with the 35 square-metre Premier Room, stretching up to the practically palatial Premier Suite, which is a generous 105 square metres. All rooms include free Wi-fi, marble bathrooms with rainwater-head showers, as well as comfy occasional seating.

The Premier Suite, the hotel’s most luxurious room, is so much so that it boasts two separate entrances, a dining area adorned by a chandelier and complimentary access to the Premier Lounge where afternoon tea and an evening cocktail is all part of the service.
Restaurants and bars
Of the hotel’s three eateries, The Orchard Cafe is the most casual serving comforting classics such as truffle fries and pizza, as well as local dishes. Hua Ting Restaurant offers exemplary traditional Cantonese fare, with an à la carte menu and an extensive list of dim sum. This long-standing fine diner is a local favourite and even earned a nod in the Michelin guide. Meanwhile, Bar Intermezzo on the first floor offers a concise cocktail list that takes its inspiration from flowers, with lime leaf and chamomile among its ingredients.

Travel for work
Even in the Grand Deluxe Room, there’s a small desk space guests can dedicate to remote working. Another perk of the aforementioned Premier Suite is a full-sized workspace but also the complimentary use of meeting space for two hours daily in the afternoons. Wi-fi is thankfully free in all rooms and throughout the property.
Pool and gym
Although the 20-metre pool on the fourth floor is perfect for swimming laps, the sun loungers that line its edges are just as tempting on a sweltering Singapore day. Overlooking the pool on the same level, the 24-hour gym has a range of exercise machines and free weights.
