Worldwide, Four Seasons is known for the style of its hospitality: personal, dedicated, unerring. Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is no exception. In a city filled with high-end stays, this 20-storey property stands apart for its exemplary service – from the bottled water and umbrellas offered by the bell-desk to the reception team who personally escorts you to your room after check-in. In the lobby, a gleaming black staircase, marble flooring and extensive wood panelling delivers an elegant and polished ambiance. All rooms have recently undergone a sophisticated renovation. There are two restaurants (one with a Michelin star), a classy lobby bar, an expansive spa and fitness centre, and a rooftop family pool.
On Orchard Boulevard, one block back from Orchard Road, Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is removed from the shopping fracas while also giving you easy access to the fray. The Orchard Road MRT is a five-minute walk, while the World Heritage-listed Singapore Botanic Gardens are a 20-minute stroll away.
All 255 rooms have been recently refurbished and now sport a subdued palette of grey, beige, pale blue and lime green – inspired by the nearby Botanic Gardens. Teamed with plush carpets and the cloud-like bed, the overall effect is a welcoming cocoon. Views range from lush outdoor greenery to shopping vistas of Orchard Road. Light-filled Premier Rooms boast the best panoramas thanks to huge wraparound bay windows – with curtains that open on cue as you walk in. Bathrooms are generous and the tech is as you’d expect from an upscale hotel: smart TV, on-demand movies and Bose bluetooth speakers.
Food and drink
The buffet breakfast at One-Ninety Restaurant offers a seemingly endless array of options and cuisines, including mee and nasi goreng, uttapam, spring rolls, miso soup, siew mai, dumplings, congee, pancakes, toast, pastries, bacon, fresh fruit, assorted salad items, nuts, yoghurts, cereals, and Continental options like French cheeses and cold meats. Quality is top-notch and it’s a feast that will set you up for the day. Later on, if you fancy a drink, One-Ninety Bar (pictured above) has a refined vibe. Upstairs, Jiang-Nan Chun boasts a Michelin star for its authentic Cantonese fare. The Peking Duck, served with caviar and carved tableside, is the pick of the menu.
For business travellers
There are 10 function spaces: ranging in size from boardroom to ballroom, and catering for between 15 and 500 people. State-of-the-art AV equipment includes projection booths, video/teleconferencing, LCD flatscreens, video cameras and more. Full audio-visual support is available. Additionally, there’s a 24-hour business centre if you need somewhere quiet to work.
For wellness travellers
Those seeking fitness and activity are well catered to: from the 24-hour fitness centre to the 20-metre lapping pool (in addition to the rooftop family pool). There are no less than four tennis courts: two outdoor and two air-conditioned indoors. Looking to chill rather than sweat? The Four Seasons spa offers massage, facials, body treatments and more, including a world exclusive scrub/massage experience called Néroli & Orchidée.
The fab factor
If you’ve stayed before, it’s likely the team will recognise you as you arrive; if this is your first visit, by tomorrow, many staff will remember you by name. All in keeping with Four Season’s trademark hospitality.
