This walking trail will take you to art- and design-driven retail stores that feature unique creations. Get off at Bras Basah MRT station and take Exit A to the Singapore Arts Museum, where Supermama is located. This store curates local designs that make common Singapore sights hip - look out for the ceramic ware that highlights design elements of local icons like the Merlion. From Supermama, head to The Little Drom Store at the School of the Arts on Zubir Said Drive, which carries knick-knacks that capture Singaporeans’ childhood memories or idiosyncrasies in charmingly feel-good ways. Don’t know what the local colloquialisms on the tote bags mean? Owners Stanley and Antoinette are happy to explain them. After that, head towards North Bridge Road and look for Cat Socrates in Bras Basah Complex. From tin toys to handcrafted postcards and brooches, the collection here can be random but is always beautiful.
The Bras Basah.Bugis precinct is the arts and cultural centre of Singapore and is home to the National Museum of Singapore, the Singapore Art Museum and the Peranakan Museum. This is also one of Singapore’s oldest districts so keep your eyes peeled for beautiful and well-preserved architecture such as The Armenian Church, which was built in 1835.
