Once home to the American industrialist George Vanderbilt II, Biltmore Estate, is the largest privately owned home in the US. The Beaux-Arts beauty, with its turrets, gargoyles and loggia, has 1.5 hectares of floor space and 250 rooms. Guests can stay on-site at the Inn on Biltmore Estate, which prides itself on providing an experience akin to being a guest of the Vanderbilts themselves.
