Ruby Lucy, London

Set to open: January 2020
Pioneer of the “lean luxury” philosophy – they do away with unnecessary extras like room service in favour of lower prices – Ruby Lucy is opening its first London location in 2020. The Munich-based hotel group is setting up shop on the Southbank’s Lower Marsh with a 76-room hotel. The aesthetic? Carnival-chic. Expect brass accents and dramatic colour schemes.

Orient Express Bangkok Manahakhon Tower
Set to open: Early 2020
The luxurious decor of the Orient Express carriages has been reinterpreted them into a sumptuous hotel in the middle of bustling Bangkok. It’s due to open early 2020, 137 years after the Orient Express took its maiden voyage from Paris to Moscow.
Rosewood Sāo Paulo
Set to open: Early 2020
The first Rosewood property in South America, São Paulo’s iteration will be inside an historic building that was once a maternity hospital. Celebrated architect Philippe Starck and Brazilian artists Vik Muniz and Saint-Clair Cemin are collaborating on the hotel’s design. There will be 151 guest rooms and 122 owners’ suites; those lucky enough to stay have access to a rooftop pool, a caviar lounge, a large spa and a music studio.
The Legian Sire, Lombok
Set to open: March 2020
The Legian Sire is situated on a pristine stretch of sand on Lombok, an island 40 minutes’ flight from Bali. Once you land, you’re unlikely to leave. There are pool villas, beachfront villas and a beach house; each has views over the ocean. The spa creates bespoke treatments and the three dining venues are supplied from on-site organic gardens.
Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle

Wandering through the elaborate gardens or gazing at the gilded interiors of the Palace of Versailles, one can almost imagine life as Marie Antoinette (pre-Revolution, obviously) – until it comes time to board the bus back to Paris. With the opening of the Airelles at the Château de Versailles, the fantasy can continue a little longer. The hotel, in converted 17th and 18th century buildings on the palace grounds, will have 14 rooms and exclusive access to the chateau.

Paris in the springtime? Yes, please. And if you’re going, you should book a room at the brand-new Cheval Blanc Paris. It’s ideally located close to the Louvre, the Marais and the Left Bank of the Seine. With just 72 rooms and suites, the Cheval will be an intimate, cosy stay in the heart of the City of Light.

One&Only Portonovi, Montenegro

Set to open: Northern hemisphere spring 2020
Not to be outdone by the gorgeous Aman Sveti Stefan, One&Only is opening its own island retreat amid the sparkling Adriatic coast of Montenegro. Opposite the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Bay of Kotor, the 24-hectare development on the shores of Boka Bay will have its own private beach, wellness spa and even private homes.

Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi

Overlooking the Imperial Palace, the third Four Seasons hotel in Japan will occupy the top six floors of a 39-storey building in the Financial District. There will be 193 rooms and suites as well as five restaurants and bars and a top-floor spa with a 25-metre pool.
Hilton Garden Inn, Faroe Islands
Set to open: Mid to late 2020
It’s the first international hotel brand to set up shop on the remote Faroe Islands, the Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands. It’s located in the capital city of Torshavn, within walking distance of the harbour from which it’s possible to explore the archipelago 17 other islands.

Close to all of Hobart’s highlights thanks to its Parliament Square location, this luxe hotel offers up 152 rooms and suites inside a heritage-listed, Art Deco building.
Anantara Al Houara, Morocco

Six Senses Fort Barwara, Rajasthan

A true stunner, Six Senses Barwara is a 14th-century fort that’s been carefully converted into a luxury hotel. Sitting opposite the Chauth ka Barwara Mandir temple, the property was once in the hands of the Rajasthani Royal Family. Now, it’s a gorgeous hideaway of 48 suites; a palace and two temples sit within the walls of the estate.

This 76-room hotel is located in the exclusive “Triangle d’Or”, one of Paris’s most exclusive areas and joins a collection of Bulgari properties already in Beijing, Dubai, Shanghai and Moscow. It will have a spa and a restaurant/bar that opens out to a courtyard garden.
