Qantas Airways Announces Additional Peak Season Flights

LOS ANGELES - January 12, 2007

As part of the kick-off activities for the fourth annual G’Day USA: Australia Week 2007, Qantas Airways announced the addition of more non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Sydney during the traditionally popular summer travel season. From June 19 to July 28, 2007, extra non-stop flights will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, resulting in over 6,000 additional seats.

"Each year, the demand for travel to Australia grows, due, in part, to the popularity of our Australia Week initiatives, which for the first time, are being celebrated in our bi-coastal gateways of Los Angeles and New York," said Wally R. Mariani, senior executive vice president, The Americas and Pacific, Qantas Airways. "We’re pleased to always be responsive to our passengers’ needs by continuing to increase our services. Last year, we inaugurated non-stop flights from our newest American gateway, San Francisco and since then, we have added additional service based on demand," he added.

The announcement is appropriately timed with the start of Australia Week 2007, an annual showcase of all things Australian, including food and wine, film, arts, lifestyle, trade and investment, tourism and indigenous culture, that has successfully raised awareness and created increased interest in travel to Australia.

Qantas currently operates more non-stop flights between The United States and Australia than any other airline. The extra flights will provide travelers even greater frequency and more travel choices between two world-class cities during the busy summer season as well as the most convenient connections to more than 50 domestic Australian cities.

All Qantas Airways transpacific flights include complimentary meals, bar service and personal seat-back TV screens in all classes, with endless entertainment options. On international business class services to Australia, Qantas is the only airline to offer the award-winning Skybed business class sleeper seat.
