Qantas launches 31 day Travel Sweepstakes

Qantas Airways is launching one of its biggest North American online travel sweepstakes offering daily prizes and weekly grand prizes, with Vic the koala, the smartest animated marsupial on the Web.
Dubbed Vic's Daily Giveaway, the exciting promotion grants prizes to 31 lucky winners to enjoy some of Australia and New Zealand's most unique destinations and attractions. To become eligible to win exciting travel prizes provided by Qantas' travel partners, users can visit the Qantas site to meet Qantas' animated mate, Vic, who will help visitors register to win, as well as answer questions about the land Down Under.
Beginning April 1, 2005, Qantas is giving away one travel prize per day, including a weekly grand prize each Friday in April and one on May 1, 2005. The grand prizes include:
- Ayers Rock Adventure from Voyages with luxury accommodations at Sails in the Desert and the outback gourmet dining experience at Ayers Rock called Sounds of Silence.
- Three-night Executive Suite accommodations at the InterContinental Sydney including daily breakfast.
- Seven-night Coral Sea Liveaboard Dive Expedition from Mike Ball Dive Expeditions.
- Three-night Great Barrier Reef and Island Cruise from Barefoot Cruises Australia.
- Hamilton Island Dream Getaway and Seaplane Tour from Tourism Hamilton Island and Aviation Tourism Australia (Grand Prize)
"Vic's Daily Giveaway provides a valuable opportunity for visitors to discover the best of what Australia and New Zealand have to offer," said Howard Goldberg, Qantas Airways Vice President Leisure Sales and Marketing, The Americas.
Sweepstakes winners will enjoy other prizes including a personally guided Platinum Australia Zoo tour getting up close to exotic animals, seven nights stay with Breakfree Resort Apartments in Queensland, VIP tour of the Sydney Aquarium, Australia's No. 1 tourist destination, a helicopter tour of Sydney Harbour, two nights at Kingfisher Bay Resort with 4-wheel drive tour, luxury accommodations at the Five Star Cairns International Hotel and more.

To create the promotion and this smart koala, Qantas collaborated with Spacedog, Inc., its interactive agency of record, who enlisted the help of Malibu, California-based Conversive, Inc., to provide the state-of-the-art technology similar to artificial intelligence. ANIMAX Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based, leading animation house and partner of Conversive, created the Vic animation design.

No purchase necessary. Sweepstakes is open to residents of the U.S. (excluding Florida, New York and Puerto Rico) over the age of 18. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.
