Five Unmissable NSW Mountain Experiences
The Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, located two hours west of Sydney is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. We have created an itinerary to help the adventure seekers out there explore the raw landscape of this fascinating area and the mountain regions beyond.
Our trip begins with a leisurely stroll along the brief, yet spectacular, Katoomba Falls Round Walk. The trek, which offers some of the most iconic views of the Blue Mountains, culminates at Vanimans lookout, where you'll witness stunning views of The Three Sisters and Katoomba Falls.
Next up, an activity that will be sure to have your adrenaline pumping. The rugged sandstone cliffs, dark canyons and cascading waterfalls of the Blue Mountains provide the perfect location to abseil and rock-climb.
Moving swiftly on to our next activity, the treetop walk in Knights Hill. Ranging from 65 to 100 feet above the forest floor, the walk is not for the faint hearted. Those who muster up the courage to complete the walk will be rewarded with spectacular rainforest sights from the Knights Tower, which soars 150 feet above ground.
Your mountain adventure continues in Kosciuszko National Park. Stunning displays of wildflowers will accompany you while you tackle the six hour climb to the summit of the mountain that the park is duly named after. Be sure to stop off at Snowy River for a spot of lunch before proceeding to Rawson Pass, where you'll discover Aboriginal signs describing the importance of the surrounding landscape.
What better way to wrap up your mountain journey than by embarking on a horseback adventure amidst the rugged beauty of the Snowy Mountains. Leave all else behind and ride through the unspoilt, idyllic landscape; if you're feeling particularly adventurous, camp out for the night for a truly thrilling experience.
