Qantas To Operate Daily Services to Beijing For Olympics

Sydney, 30 October 2007

Qantas today announced it would fly daily to Beijing between 4 and 24 August 2008 to carry spectators, officials and athletes to the Games of the 29th Olympiad.

Qantas Executive General Manager John Borghetti said the move from three to seven services per week during this peak travel period would increase the airline's Beijing capacity by more than 130 per cent.

He said Qantas would operate Airbus A330 aircraft, equipped with its award-winning Skybed sleeper seat in Business class and audio and video on demand in all classes.

"Qantas currently operates eight return services a week to mainland China - the three Beijing-Sydney services as well as five on the Sydney-Shanghai route - with two additional return services, between Melbourne and Shanghai, to commence in March 2008," Mr Borghetti said.
