Qantas Named Top Airline for Inflight Entertainment
Sydney, 06 October 2005
Qantas has been named the world's number one airline for inflight entertainment after receiving the award for Best Overall Inflight Entertainment from the World Airline Entertainment Association.
Qantas dominated the WAEA 'Avion Awards', winning four 'Avions' including Best Overall Inflight Entertainment, Best Inflight Magazine for Qantas the Australian Way, Best Inflight Entertainment Guide for Q and Best Special Purpose Video for The Making of I Still Call Australia Home.
The Avion Awards honour excellence in inflight entertainment and are chosen by a 25 member international panel that evaluates inflight audio, video, print and interactive media from 35 leading passenger airlines worldwide.
The Executive General Manager of Qantas, Mr John Borghetti, said the recognition was testimony to the airline's commitment to providing customers with the highest quality travel experience.
"Inflight entertainment is an important part of airline travel, especially on long-haul flights, and Qantas invests significant resources to ensure our customers enjoy the very best inflight entertainment experience available. Receiving these awards from a panel of international experts is testimony to this commitment."
Mr Borghetti said the high standard of Qantas' inflight entertainment was reflected in the fact the airline had received the award for Best Overall Inflight Entertainment in three of the last four years. Qantas has also been awarded Best Inflight Magazine for two years running.
The winners were announced at the WAEA 26th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Hamburg, Germany. For more information on the Avion Awards and the WAEA, visit www.waea.org.
