A new Christmas CD being released today will help raise money for CanTeen, the Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer.

The CD, 'Sharing the Spirit of the Season', is presented by Qantas and features the voices behind the airline's 'I Still Call Australia Home' advertising campaign - The National Boys Choir of Australia and The Australian Girls Choir.

The choirs sing 11 Christmas carols including popular favourites such as Jingle Bell Rock, Little Drummer Boy and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, as well as Qantas, signature tune 'I Still Call Australia Home'.

'Sharing the Spirit of the Season' is produced by renowned Australian music figure and former lead guitarist with 1970s rock group Hush - Les Gock. The result is a fresh, contemporary feel that distinguishes it from traditional Christmas music.

Gock said that working with such young, talented voices was a real delight. "The children were consummate professionals and their ability and enthusiasm really shows through in the end result. I think people will be genuinely surprised when they listen to the CD. It takes a slightly different slant to carol music and will appeal to a range of ages and musical tastes." Another well-known member of the CD's production team was Paul Gray - former lead singer with popular 1980s band Wa Wa Nee who was part of the Song Zu team responsible for recording and mixing.

The Chief Executive Officer of CanTeen, Andrew Young, said Qantas' offer to organise the CD and donate the profits to the charity was a fantastic gesture of support. "The CD will help us raise funds to continue our work supporting young people living with cancer and allow us to assist them to share experiences, have fun, offer resources and promote understanding, well-being and leadership."

CanTeen is one of the five official charities to benefit from Qantas' Sharing the Spirit program, which harnesses the airline's partnerships with different community, arts and sports organisations to help bring Australians together in unique ways.

The CD is available for $21.95 from participating Australia Post outlets or from
