Qantas Statement on Industrial Action

Sydney, 28 May 2008

Qantas said today it would again have measures in place, including a limited number of flight cancellations, to protect its operations during industrial action by the Australian Licensed Engineers Association's (ALAEA) planned for tomorrow, Thursday 29 May and Friday 30 May.

The Chief Executive Officer of Qantas, Mr Geoff Dixon, said the airline was determined to minimise potential impacts of the stop work action, which was designed to inconvenience Qantas passengers.

"To date, we have not experienced any significant issues as a result of the union's overtime bans," he said.

"With four-hour strikes planned for Sydney and Brisbane on Thursday and Melbourne on Friday, we expect only small changes to our flight schedule."

Any customers affected are being contacted today regarding flights scheduled for tomorrow. Contact will be made tomorrow regarding flights scheduled for Friday.
