Qantas to Further Reduce International Fuel Surcharges
Sydney, 02 March 2009
Qantas announced today that it would significantly reduce its international fuel surcharges.
The lower surcharges, which will apply to all Australian point of sale tickets issued on or after Tuesday 3 March 2009, will be:
One way from Australia ($A)
* UK and Europe - $95 (was $160)
* Mainland USA, Canada, South America, South Africa and India - $85 (was $130)
* Asia, Pacific, Honolulu - $55 (was $95)
* New Zealand - $30 (was $55)
Executive General Manager Qantas, Mr John Borghetti, said the airline had now reduced surcharges on multiple occasions in recent months.
"With recent falls in oil prices, we removed domestic fuel surcharges on 1 January and have now reduced international surcharges three times since October 2008," he said.
"We will continue to monitor the situation, with our international surcharges to remain under ongoing review."
